Hello,

yes, right it`s me. After 4 months of silence I am finally back at the game and about to share a bunch of photos and memories with you.
As the latest posts were all focused on music, today I would like to write about my other passion, which is travelling. In October I flew to Split to escape the autumnal Germany and spend a great time in Croatia. Without exaggeration, once again I lost my heart to this beautiful country. Only rarely have I ever been so stunned of a place as it was the case when I was exploring Croatia. I am still impressed of the mountain landscapes which are extended over kilometres alongside the Dalmatian coastline. 
At the foot of the mountains are lots of cute, mediterian inspired cities of which most of them also have a harbour. I mean is there anything better than to sit down in one the coffee places at the esplanade and enjoy a drink with your view directed towards the sparkling, turquoise water?!

What l particularly like about Croatia is that as far as I can tell, the country is still very traditional. Of course there are also lots of Tourists and Souvenirshops but from my experience not as much as in other destinations such as Spain or Italy. 
Besides, whenever I went through the sidestreets I got the feeling to be right in the everyday life of the Croatian inhabitants. Where the washing was hanging on lines right above me and the nice smell of freshly prepared food somewhere down the road.

Well, as you might have recognized I am quite delighted by Croatia and can`t wait 
to return. In the meantime I will continue looking at the photos from my recent holidays. 
In the following you can see some of my favourit pics and maybe you will comprehend 
my love for this country ;)

Hallo,

mit Erschrecken habe ich eben festgestellt, dass mein letzter Blogpost tatsächlich schon vier Monate her ist. Dabei wollte ich diesen Beitrag doch eigentlich schon längst gepostet haben. Wie so häufig sind mir jedoch einfach nicht die richtigen Worte eingefallen.
Glücklicherweise hat sich das nun geändert, so dass ich nun etwas verspätet die Fotos und Erinnerungen meiner letzten Reise mit euch teilen möchte.
Letzten Oktober ging es nämlich für mich nach Kroatien. 
Sprich: eine Woche Urlaub vom Alltag und dem herbstlichen Wetter in Deutschland, stattdessen Erholung und Vitamin D tanken.

Ich bin 2 Jahre zuvor bereits einmal mit der Schule im Norden von Kroatien gewesen.  
Zwar hatte ich mir damals schon gedacht, dass es sicherlich schön dort sein wird, allerdings nicht das ich tatsächlich so begeistert sein würde. Für mich stand danach auf jeden Fall fest, dass ich unbedingt wiederkehren muss. Einfach um noch mehr vom Land und der Kultur kennen zu lernen.

Gegen Ende letzen Jahres war es dann soweit und ich stieg in den Flieger nach Split. 
Um es schon mal vorweg zu nehmen: ich habe mich nur noch mehr in Kroatien verliebt.

Dieses mal habe ich das im Süden gelegene Dalmatien erkundet. Die direkt an der Adria gelegene Region besticht definitiv durch ihre beeindruckende Natur. 
So erstrecken sich über Kilometer hinweg direkt am Meer gelegene Berglandschaften. 
Manchmal hängen die Wolken dort so tief in den Bergen, dass man das Gefühl bekommt man könne sie förmlich anfassen.

Zudem laden kleine, mediterran geprägte Städte wie Trogir und Makarska zum erkunden und bummeln ein. Läuft man etwa durch die engen Gassen, fühlt es sich so an als sei 
man mittendrin im kroatischen Alltag. Über einem hängt zum Trocknen die Wäsche der Einheimischen und beim fotografieren des nächsten schönen Hauses, fliegt einem der appetitanregende Duft herzhaften Essens entgegen.

Das Traditionelle ist es auch, was mir so gut an Kroatien gefällt. Von dem her was ich bisher gesehen habe, ist es eher noch ursprünglich und wenig verbaut. Natürlich ist das Land kein unbekannter Flecken Erde mehr unter den Touristen, aber die Ortschaften bestehen zum Glück noch nicht rein aus Bettenburgen und Souvenirshops. 

Neben der Gastfreundschaft der Kroaten ist ein weiter Punkt, der mich immer wieder fasziniert, die Klarheit und die Farbe des Wassers. Egal ob im Nationalpark, im Fluss oder am Meer: so gut wie überall kann man auf den Grund gucken und kann sein Spiegelbild im türkisfarbenen Wasser betrachten.

Ich für meinen Teil bin hin und weg von Kroatien (meinem ,,europäischen Kanada") und schwelge seit dem Urlaub ständig in Erinnerungen oder schaue mir die Fotos an. 
Eine Auswahl davon könnt ihr unten sehen und mein Fernweh vielleicht nachvollziehen ;)

Deutsche Einheitsmusik - das muss doch nicht sein (inklusive musikalischer Empfehlungen)

Musik - jeder hört sie, der eine mehr, der andere weniger und auch die Geschmäcker unterscheiden sich diesbezüglich sehr. 

Wer sich meine vorherigen Blog Posts durchgelesen hat, weiß wahrscheinlich das ich in den letzten Monaten das ein oder andere Musik Festival besucht habe. 

Mal abgesehen von der meist tollen Atmosphäre vor Ort, ist so ein Festival auch immer eine super Gelegenheit neue Bands kennen - und besten Falls lieben zu lernen.

So habe auch ich in letzter Zeit durch diese Art und Weise so manchen Künstler für mich entdeckt und bin rückblickend sehr froh darüber.

Froh deshalb, weil viele heimische Musiker darunter sind, die für mich einen wahren Lichtblick am deutschen Musikhorizont bilden.

Ich höre in der Regel ansonsten überwiegend Songs aus britischer Mache. 
Zu den wenigen Ausnahmen gehört unter anderem der Erfurter Clueso, der nun schon seit langem mein Lieblings Musiker ist.

Letzte Woche ist seine neue Single erschienen, Album und Tour folgen bald. 

Derzeit ist er deshalb in aller Munde und hat gestern über Facebook mitgeteilt, dass er aktuell auf Platz 1 der Deutschpop Charts bei Spotify ist.

Nun näheren wir uns auch dem Punkt, der mich dazu angeregt hat, diesen Artikel überhaupt zu schreiben. Neben Clueso beinhaltet die Playlist nämlich noch Lieder vieler weiterer Deutscher Musikmacher, wobei die Mehrheit meiner Meinung nach bei langem nicht nicht mit Clueso mithalten kann. Ganz im Gegenteil, ich bin regelrecht verärgert, 
wie schlecht viele Songs gänzlich sind. Ich habe nacheinander die Lieder abgespielt und hätte ich nicht die Namen der Interpreten gesehen, hätte ich schnell angenommen, 
dass es sich bei allen um einen und denselben Musiker handelt.

Die Songtexte klingen wie mal schnell auf das Papier geschmiert und dann mit irgendeinem 08/15 Sound hinterlegt. Meistens handelt es sich um Liebeslieder, 
deren Lyrics einfach auszutauschen wären mit den Worten bereits vorhandener Songs.
Nichtsdestotrotz scheint die Idee aufzugehen, denn gespielt werden die Songs trotzdem von den Radiosendern oder vielleicht auch gerade deshalb.
Getreu dem Motto, was früher schon Erfolg hatte wird auch wieder klappen und so werden diese lieblosen Stücke zu ungewollten Ohrwürmern. Kein Wunder, wenn sich doch auch etwa jedes dritte Wort wiederholt. Da muss man das Lied nicht mal mögen oder gar genauer hinhören und kennt den Text gezwungenermaßen dennoch.

Mir ist durchaus bewusst, dass es heutzutage nicht leicht ist, das Rad neu zu erfinden. 
Zum Glück gibt es aber auch genügend Beispiele dafür, dass deutsche Musik sehr wohl auch gut sein kann. Warum man von denen bisher noch nicht viel in der Öffentlichkeit gehört hat, bleibt mir allerdings ein Rätsel. 
Vielleicht liegt es daran, dass sie einfach noch zu unbekannt oder eben zu anspruchsvoll für die breite Masse sind. 

Ich kann es jedenfalls nicht genau sagen, warum uns nicht stattdessen lieber diese kreativen, originellen Texte mit genauso eingängigen Melodien während der Autofahrt entgegen gedudelt werden. Naja, ein Gutes hat das Ganze auch: so sind die Konzerte wenigstens noch nicht überfüllt.

Im übrigen wurde ich auch durch einen Artikel, den ich vor Kurzem gelesen habe, 
zu diesem Blog Post inspiriert. Dort ist auch noch mal genauer nachzulesen, welche Künstler maßgeblich dazu beitragen, dass derzeit ein Musiker kaum von einem anderen unterscheidbar ist.

Review of the Dockville Festival 2016

Hello,

today is SUNday but the weather doesn`t seem to recognize this because the outlook 

of my window isn`t that promising right now. Instead of sun I can only see the greyish sky 

and hear how the rain drops.

However, I will make the best out of the circumstances and do some useful things during 

the day such as preparing a presentation for school and write this blog post.

It is high time that I have to do this anyway as exactly two weeks have gone already 

since I left the Dockville. As you can tell from the title, you are going to read through 

my memories from the Festival and I want to share them with you as long as they 

are still fresh.

So where should I start!? Perhabs with a summary of the weekend first.

Well, so basically it were three amazing days once again and different to now we had perfect weather, including a lovely sunset of which you will also see a photo later on.

The festival was actually way to short as there was so much to discover but to little time 

to go around and have a closer look onto all the artworks or sit down in one of the hidden, fabulous areas. My friend and I were already busy with watching all the great musicians. 

If there was a break inbetween two bands we wanted to see, we were eating ourselves through the offer of delicous Festival Food.

To get to the most important point now: the music. Luckily, we managed to see nearly all 

of the acts which were on our list. As I experienced also from my Dockville visit last year there were some dissapointments and some surprises amongst it.

This was the case in term of the perfomances of Foals and Bilderbuch. Originally, I was really looking forward to see them but at the end I didn`t liked the shows that much.

In my opinion, they were ok but nothing more, whereas my favourit bands from this years Dockville are Kytes and L`Aupaire. I love their songs and as both of them are not that famous yet it wasn`t to full in front of the stage but everybody was in such a good mood 

and a lot of people were dancing.

Nowadays, I usually prefer this kind of atmosphere rather to ten thousands of people but all just standing around. 

But it doesn`t necessarilly have to be like this. It seems to depend on the artist, whether they are able to motivate such a big audience to dance and have a good time or not.

For example, the show of the german Duo Milky Chance belongs to my favourit moments of the Dockville 2016. Before the Festival I only knew them due to the Radio and wasn`t really interested in them. Then it turned out that they were perhabs the act with the most viewers of the whole weekend. Live they sounded way better as expected and there was such a miraculous atmosphere! It really was awesome when Milky Chance sang one of their most popular songs out into the darkness of the night, followed by thousand of voices from the crowd and surrounded by the illuminated buildings. 

Anyhow, in addition to the ones I already mentioned these are the other musicians 

we saw during the weekend:

Saturday:

Meute, Honne, Aurora, Crystal Fighters, Rodhad and RSS Disco

Sunday:

Not to forget also some general information. As I can tell the organisation was excellent again and the staff as well as the other Festival visitors were all friendly and peaceful.

The Festival site, located in the harbour of Hamburg, is amazing anyway.

Incidentally, I just got aware of the fact that I didn`t mentioned yet that this year 

the Festival turned 10 years old. Therefore, were haven´t been only pretty balloons all over the place but also the Festival bracelet looks super fancy (like a Disco ball).

Alright, I think now I said everything I wanted to say and told you a few of my favourit memories. That`s why I am coming to an end with this blog post but not without saying one more thing: 

I am looking forward to see you in 2017 again, MS Dockville!

Festival Fashion Guide

Hey,

both music and fashion play an important role in my everyday life and Festivals are 
the perfect occasion to combine these two interests of mine.

Tomorrow I am going to attend the Dockville Festival in Hamburg and I am looking
forward to a fantastic weekend with friends, good music and a lot of fun.

The weather report changes nearly every day but right now it seems as we will be lucky
 to enjoy warm temperatures and a lot of sun. I hope it will gonna stay like that as I have some clothes which I would love to wear at the Festival.

One of these items is a blouse I got some months ago on a market in London. 
I really like the shape and the pattern of the Top and I think there is no better place 
than a Festival to wear this out.

Although I really like the boho style, which tends to be a bit extravagant, I will keep my clothes quite simple as in my opinion the most important rule in terms of Festival outfits 
is that you feel comfortable. No matter how good it might look, it won`t really work out 
if you can neither walk, dance or do whatever without plucking on your top here and there every two minutes. 

Your clothes are probably not worth it to miss the band playing just in front of you.

Something else to pay attention to is to be prepared for different temperatures.
As hot it might be during the day, at some point it will get colder, therefore it is always 
a good idea to bring a jumper or jacket with you. 
Also the other way around could be the case: it might turn out warmer than you thought 
it will be. Believe me, it is never a bad idea to have an additonal pair of shorts in your bag.

Anyway, I am not completely sure yet what I will gonna wear the next days.
I will decide this quite spontanious but for you I have some photos of outfits which 
I might gonna wear. 

I have to go now and get my things together for the Festival tomorrow but I hope I can inspire the one or another of you with the following photos and that my advices were 
somehow helpful for you.

Only two more days til the Dockville 2016

Hey,

almost one year ago I wrote one of my personal favourite Blog posts so far.

This is probably due to the topic as it deals with my impressions of the Dockville 
Festival 2015. This was for sure one, if not THE best weekend in my year 2015. 
As you can tell from the article (go and read it here) I was - and still am - delighted of 
the event. Therefore, I am basically already looking forward to this years issue since 
the moment I left the Festival in the previous year. Since that I followed every announcement and news with great interest and counted the weeks til the 19th of August, when the Festival is about to take place for the tenth time. Now there are only two more nights to sleep and somehow I am not yet at the point to actually realize that.

By the way, as probably not all of you might have heard about the Dockville before:

I am talking about a Festival, which is hold each year in the south of Hamburg / Germany.

Four days long hundred of musicians from all over the world are playing at the Festival.

Besides the music art also plays an important role at the location as it creates a very special and pleasant atmosphere. Most visitors are in the age of twenty something but partly there are also older ones. All in all, it is a very peaceful and lovely Festival.

However, as soon as the official Line-Up was revealed I started to make a list with all the ones I would like to see during the Festival. Although I would have been happy to hear 

two or more of my favourite musicians performing at the event I still like the Line-Up.

Once again the organizers were able to book a great variety of musicians and therefore 

all different styles of music and I think that is also one of the reasons why the Festival 
is so popular. Nearly everybody`s taste in music will gonna be represented.

Anyway, the bands I fancy to see are these ones:
